ART SHAPED BY PLACE, PEOPLE, AND POSSIBILITY
WHERE ARTISTRY AND STRATEGY ALIGN
Jason Flakes creates site-responsive public art that transforms shared environments into places of connection, reflection, and belonging.
Each project begins with the identity of its location its people, history, architecture, culture, and aspirations. These elements are translated into meaningful artworks that feel distinctive to the community while contributing something new to its future.
THE APPROACH
MORE THAN AN OBJECT IN A SPACE
Public art should feel connected to the place it inhabits.
Rather than beginning with a predetermined form, Jason studies the environment and the people who experience it. The resulting work may be sculptural, functional, interactive, immersive, or integrated into the surrounding architecture and landscape.
Every project is an opportunity to create something visually memorable, emotionally resonant, and genuinely meaningful to the people who encounter it.
PROJECT PARTNERS
CREATED THROUGH COLLABORATION
Jason works with:

Projects may include permanent installations, functional sculptures, monuments, placemaking features, immersive environments, integrated architectural artwork, and temporary public experiences.
THE PROCESS
FROM RESEARCH TO REALIZATION
LISTEN
The process begins with research, conversation, and observation. Jason explores the history of the site, the character of the community, and the goals of the project.
IMAGINE
Ideas are developed through storytelling, sketching, photography, material exploration, spatial design, and visual studies. Each concept is evaluated for meaning, experience, durability, and its relationship to the environment.
CREATE
Jason collaborates with architects, engineers, fabricators, landscape designers, developers, and community partners to bring the selected concept from initial design through fabrication and installation.
